Ready to Eat Clean?

November 10, 2011 2 Comments

The Clean Food Challenge starts in only 3 days! I’m starting to get excited. And honestly, a little bit nervous. Having done this before I know that it really isn’t that hard. It’s just one week. But, I’m feeling quite attached to my unhealthy eating habits lately, especially the pumpkin bread I made yesterday. And the 3 cups of coffee I’ve been drinking every morning.

That attached feeling is a big part of the problem really. Feeling like I need certain foods and drinks to make it through the day. Any time I feel myself getting overly attached to something I know that it is time to shake things up a bit.

I came across an interesting iPhone/iPad/iTouch app called The Eatery. It might be fun to try it out during the Clean Food Challenge. The Eatery is free and offers a photo based food journal that allows you and other users to rate your food. The result? A clear record of what you are eating, when you are eating it, and how healthy that food choice was. Best of all? It’s free! Let me know if you sign up and we can connect.

So far we have 4 Clean Food Challengers, including me:

  1. Imene
  2. Jacki
  3. Heather

Ok….sign me up (with a twinge of resistance). 😉 I’m sitting in the parking lot at Whole Foods so it seems like as good a time as any! I don’t eat meat. Check. Don’t eat dairy. Check. But one I’ve been resistant to let go of is…gluten. I already buy/cook gluten free for my family, but still buy “regular” bread for me. I’ve been told I have a mild gluten intolerance and I know since it’s such a hard thing for me to part with is exactly why I need to do this. No gluten will be my focus this week. And I’m excited, too. Thanks for being our guide!

So excited to have you join in Shannon. I hear you on the resistance. Sometimes I feel like if there is a lot of resistance that is all the more reason to go for it!

I love that you are adapting the Challenge to fit your own current needs. The Challenge is more about looking at the foods we are eating and to really think if there are ways we could improve our eating and feel better, every day. When we feel good we can Do so many Amazing things. Thank you so much for being a part of the Challenge!
