Tension is who you think you should be.  Relaxation is who you are.

Here’s the truth: focusing on rest is really hard for me.

I’m not very good at rest.

Or I’m not very good at committing to rest.

Or I haven’t quite figured out how to rest and continue to work.

Perhaps I’m just not sure who I am when I’m resting?

So, I’m going to rest, and rest alone, for the next 2 weeks.

I can feel that I need the rest, desperately. I feel it in my body. I definitely feel it in my mind.

I’m letting go of the tension — the should’s, ought to’s, the keep on keeping on’s. I’m going to let go and let be.

This week I will enjoy my daughter as an only child, while my son is visiting his grandparents. Next week I will travel to the woods and a river, to unplug, unwind, read, sleep and listen to the quiet.

I’m going to embrace the rest that I’ve been longing for all month. I encourage you to do the same, in whatever capacity you are able.

I will see you back in this space in August.

Until then, I’ll be uncovering who I am, through relaxation.
