Every Day Moments of Love

“Real isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.” ~The Velveteen Rabbit

Today I am savoring moments like these:

  • my daughter clutching her folded hands to her heart, cocking her little head and saying “I just love my brother sooooo much!”
  • my husband laughing, full joyful belly laughs, while wrestling with both kids
  • my son running out of school to hug me, simply because he loves me, and then reaching out to deliver the same to his sister
  • both kids singing and dancing in the breakfast chairs, exuding joy for life, music, good food and each other
  • my husband telling me that dinner is delicious and watching him devour each bite
  • spontaneous game playing initiated by the 4 year old and embraced by the 7 year old
  • my son and daughter both reaching to hold my hand as we walk home from school

Small moments. Beautiful moments.

Everyday beauty. Everyday love.

There are times when I hesitate to share gems like these. Out of fear that I’m trying to project some perfect life (which I totally don’thave.) That somehow sharing the struggles makes me more real, more relatable, more humble.

The goodness which is there Every Single Day if I look for it doesn’t make me any less real. The gratitude that I feel for each and every moment of joy is what helps me feel real.

No matter your struggles. No matter your hardships. There are moments like these. Take time to see them. Share them. Celebrate them. Love them.

They make you real.

Once you are Real you can’t become unreal again. It lasts for always. ~The Velveteen Rabbit
