Clean Food Challenge Starts November 14

I don’t know about you, but I’ve eaten one too many pieces of my kids’ Halloween candy. The entire month of October actually has seen a whole lot of less-than-healthy eating, infrequent trips to the gym, staying up past my bed time too much, a few too many evening beers, and way too much coffee. So, what does that mean?

It’s time for another Clean Food Challenge! The fun will start Monday November 14. Woo Hoo!

My dear, beautiful friend Emilie (also my co-Editor over at Sparrow) is the creator of the Clean Food Challenge. I was a sceptic about the idea at first, but now I’m a huge fan.

Here’s how it works:

For one whole week you eat a squeaky clean diet — lots of fruits, veggies, whole grains, and drink 1 Gallon of water daily. Simply put, you eat real food that purely fuels your body.

There also happen to be some things that you don’t put in your body. For one little week. No:

  • processed food
  • refined sugar
  • meat
  • dairy
  • wheat/gluten
  • alcohol

And for me, only 1 cup of coffee daily.

So are you up for joining me on the Clean Food Challenge?

I’d love to have the company, share good recipes, offer moral support, wax poetically about the joys of bread.

A note about why now.

The part about the Halloween candy was no joke. I’m actually writing this post with my daughter’s plastic pumpkin next to me on the couch and a pile of empty candy wrappers I would be ashamed to let you see. I also feel like it will be great to clean things out a bit and reconnect to good, real food right before the indulgences of the holidays start. Doing the Clean Food Challenge has been a great way to remind myself how good I feel when I nourish my body. By doing the Clean Food Challenge right before the holidays maybe I’ll be able to resist eating so many cookies and pie. (Notice I didn’t say refuse. I will not miss pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving.)

I’m presenting all of you with a loving invitation to join me on the Clean Food Challenge. In the mean time I’ll post a few good, clean recipes to try to help with preparatory shopping. I’m actually starting to get excited!

      Yeah! I’m so excited that you are in for the Challenge Heather! Will Chris be joining in too? by proxy? Erik is undecided, but will definitely be a tag along since I do the cooking. Thanks for joining in the fun!
