Boxes and Boxes and Bins…Oh My! Moving is not fun.

June 29, 2012 2 Comments

My family and I moved this week. As I’m sure you all know, moving really isn’t any fun at all.

You would think we’d be experts at this point. My husband and I have moved 6 times in the past 9 years. This is our children’s 4th home. They are 6 and 3 years old. Writing that or saying it out loud always makes me feel like a crazy person. Maybe I am. This time we are hoping to stay in one place for a good long while.

There is nothing like moving to show me just how much stuff we have.

It all goes into boxes and bins. Then it comes out, eventually, in our new space.

Every move we purge so much. Somehow stuff accumulates again. I should have kept track of how many bags we dropped off at Goodwill. I love the purging part.

The unpacking part feels like it could go on forever.

I’m trying to focus on the bright spots. The small beacons of hope. The first glimpses of the light at the end of the long cardboard tunnel.

empty boxes, moving

Gloriously empty boxes.

I’m practicing patience. I’m learning to be in our new space.

Our new home is simply amazing. That story is coming for you all soon. For now, there are more boxes to unpack and some chocolate chip cookies to eat (because for whatever reason, baking seems to be an important part of this move).

I love this Kelly and I want to hear the whole story and see it for myself too. Is there room for a few air mattresses somewhere? I’ll bring the beer.
