What does being organized have to do with living a fulfilled life?

I asked this question of Bonnie Joy Dewkett, the professional organizer behind The Joyful Organizer, on this week’s Fulfilling Life interview. Not only can Bonnie help organize an upcoming move or your child’s bedroom, she can also help you find more ease and happiness in your everyday life by focusing on the good and being grateful for all you have.

Enjoy getting to know Bonnie and see if you get inspired to live a more organized, and fulfilling life. And, be sure to read the entire post for a really simple practice to bring more happiness to your life every day.

I really love the simple way that Bonnie looks at living a more fulfilling life.

Bonnie encourages people to look at what makes them happy, and to get together with friends and share how happy you are instead of all the stressors in your life.

I believe that what we focus on will grow. If we focus on the stress in our life, we are certain to not just get more stress, but to feel the stress acutely.

It may sound simple to shift your focus to the positive things in your life, but it can be a challenge if you are used to always talking and thinking about your struggles.

Simple Happiness Practice

Here’s a very simple exercise to try to help practice noticing the positive things in your life. I call this my Simple Happiness Practice.

Choose a something you do every day, or something you do multiple times per day. Some suggestions: making a cup of coffee or tea, washing your hands, making your bed, getting the mail, or brushing your teeth.

Every time you do you daily activity think of one thing that is going really well in your life right now, something that makes you really happy. Really let yourself feel the positive feelings.

Try this every day for a week. See if it makes a difference in your outlook and how your feel.

I would love to hear your plan! Share your daily activity in the comments below, as well as any benefits you feel from the Simple Happiness Practice.
